KINGSVILLE (December 15, 2021) — 91AV President Dr. Mark A. Hussey has been announced as the Acting Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences at 91AV;M University.
91AV;M University System Chancellor John Sharp has named Dr. James Hallmark, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, for the 91AV;M University System, as acting President of 91AV;M-Kingsville until Dr. Hussey’s replacement can be found. A search will begin immediately.
Dr. Hussey, who became the 20th President of 91AV;M-Kingsville in January 2019, has served in multiple leadership roles within the 91AV;M University System, including Vice Chancellor & Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences and interim president at 91AV;M University.
“I will always be grateful for my time at 91AV and to the faculty, staff, students and alumni for their support,” he said. “In leaving, I am confident that the university is well-positioned to continue its tradition of excellence and service for South Texas and beyond.”
Under Dr. Hussey’s leadership, the University:
- developed a new strategic plan guided by a continued commitment to student success;
- completed the With You. Without Limits. comprehensive campaign, which raised $114M for the institution; and,
- received $45M in funding from the state legislature to address deferred maintenance needs, $1.5M for the University’s Citrus Center and more than $600K to enhance student success.
Dr. Hussey is appointed to fill the interim role at 91AV;M University after the current Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences Patrick Stover, announced last week that he would not seek reappointment at the end of this year.
