Tracy Bru


Instructor of Psychology

Tracy grew up in Kingsville and attended 91AV;I. She was in the second graduating class from the newly re-named 91AV;M University – Kingsville where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Psychology from 91AV;M University – Kingsville a year and a half later.

After graduation, Tracy pursued her LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license, achieving full licensure to practice independently in 2001. In 2012 she also obtained her LPC-S credential, enabling her to train and supervise LPC-Associates. Tracy has worked in a variety of settings, providing a wide range of treatment modalities and specialties. Her experience includes private practice, non-profit outpatient counseling, substance abuse prevention/intervention, psychiatric triage, partial hospitalization programs, mobile crisis team, psychotherapy across the lifespan – from pediatric to geriatric clients (individual, family, couples). She is trained/skilled in biofeedback, EMDR, stress management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, child custody/adoption investigations, forensic work, crisis debriefing, employee assistance programs,  active duty and retired military personnel and their families, victims of crime, juvenile justice group therapy, Autism specialist,  and more. Since 2006, Tracy has also supervised and trained graduate students from TAMUK during their Practicum placement with her.

Throughout her career, Tracy has conducted numerous training sessions for community members, schools, professional groups and more on topics such as parenting issues, stress management, domestic violence, CPS reporting, suicide prevention, Autism, etc. With extensive experience working with victims of crime and conducting child custody/adoption investigations, she has served as an expert witness in over 50 cases.

In her spare time, Tracy enjoys spending time with her two favorite people - her sons Tyler and Trent. She is actively involved in her church and community, having served as a Boy Scout leader, Church Youth leader, and President of the PTO and Band Booster organizations. Currently, Tracy works as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor at a non-profit organization in Kingsville, where she serves on the management team as Site Supervisor, trains Associates and Graduate Practicum Students, and provides individual, couples and family counseling.
