Overview

The Javelina Gaming Lounge is a fun and immersive gaming center open to all students at 91AV. We invite you to come hang out and participate in free-play or compete in one of our gaming tournaments for a chance to win great prizes. If gaming isn't for you, join us for our watch parties to see the latest major sporting events.

Usage and Reservations

Javelina Gaming Lounge use is open to currently enrolled students and
Rec Center membership holders age 16 and older.

  • Upon entry, users must swipe in with their TAMUK ID with the Javelina Gaming Lounge staff member.
  • If the room is at full capacity, users must wait outside until sufficient space becomes available.
  • Gaming Lounge computers should be used solely for gaming related activities.
  • Individuals may not install any games or software.
  • Individuals that install games that are not approved are considered to be in violation of the Javelina Gaming Lounge policies.
  • Users may bring and use personal equipment of limited size that does not display profane visuals or words.
  • Food is not allowed in the Javelina Gaming Lounge. Drinks must be in a sealed, leak-proof bottle and are not permitted on station tables.
  • Aside from tournament or event times, four gaming computers will be available for individual reservations and six will be available for walk-ins on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Individual gaming sessions are capped at 90 minutes, unless there are no users waiting for a computer.
  • Individuals will have a 15-minute grace period from the time of their reservation, after which the reservation will be cancelled.

  • Harassment based on any aspect of a person’s identity will not be tolerated.
    Behaviors that contradicts 91AV's mission or polices,
    such as bullying, violence, sexual harassment, or intimidation will not be
    tolerated.
  • Toxicity, cheating, betting, or illegal activity is not allowed.

Where is the Javelina Gaming Lounge located?

The Javelina Gaming Lounge is on the first floor of the Jernigan Library in the back right hand corner.

Do I have to pay to use the gaming lounge?

The Javelina Gaming Lounge is free to all students at TAMUK.

What consoles do we have?

As a student you will have access to an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and 10 PCs - all up to date with the latest games.

Can I bring my own games?

You are allowed to bring in any of your own games or consoles to use at the gaming lounge pending the availability of TVs or consoles.

Where can I request new games for the Javelina Gaming Lounge?

You may request new games by submitting a form with the QR code posted in the lounge, asking the gaming lounge supervisors, or emailing the Competitive Sports Coordinator.
